Hats off to Mr. James Tissot, hard at work in 1877 on these beauties!
Sometimes paintings, through artful application of paints and stroking, can really relate some really deep ideas through subtlety. The widows in these pictures, in this instance, suddenly made me think of our band's name--The Widows. Which is why I linked them to this blog, which is of The Widows. Oftentimes we as a society disvalue art, or, more specifically, the Arts. And I can honestly say that's a shame. When kids don't want to even look at the Mona Lisa anymore because they can't enhanced interrogate her. Imagine that's how you and your little buddies spend one Sunday afternoon! You play sadomasochistic Leonardo Da Vinci and you have to waterboard Mona Lisa until she cracks! Some sick fuckin German game, probably!
But these are the polarizing times in which we live, and if there's escape goat, my good money's on the Arts, unfortunately. (Hey, I've got properties in foreclosure!) But we just can't afford all of the bipartisan bickering. The nucular clock is tickuling! We won't have any money for vacationing!
Respectfully,
Miller
